Career Of A Merchant Marine Officer- Rank & Salary!

By profession merchant marine is the oldest profession of all. At ancient time dangerous criminals used to be sent at ship as punishment. Day day with the modern age this prifession has became one of the most luxurious profession. Amount of salary chance of global tour made this profession dream for  thousand youth. There are two department at ship - Deck & Engine. Deck officers ranks,salary and responsibilities  are described bellow.

Master:
Master is the commandar of a ship. He is the all in all of a ship. Deck department head chief officer and engine department head chief engineer report their work progress to the master of  ship. And master report to office. He is responsible for his ship compliance of international rules and regulation. He will be responsible for making sure that his ship not polluting the sea and following Marpol regulations. Ships safe working environment, fooding quality, compliance of rules and regulation is his main concern. After 24 month of sea time as chief officer a chief mate becomes eligible to appear for class 1 exam. A masters salary ranges from 8000$- 12000$ on average.

Chief Officer:
Chief officer is the executive head of deck department. Beside navigational watch he is the incharge of loading and discharging.Ballast de ballast deck regular maintenance job Accommodation maintenance is his other prime responsibility. 24 month sea job experience  as second mate/ officer will be eligible to appear for class 2 exam. Salary of a chief officer ranges from 4500$-6500$.

Second officer:
Second officer main duty is planning passage for ship. According to the office instruction for next port second officer makes passage plan for voyage. He is also responsible for chart correction, Ships hospital. Second officer is called the ships doctor. He is the in charge of all bridge equipment. After 12-18 month sea time a third officer promoted to second officer. Salary of a second officer ranges from 3000$-4000$.

Third officer:
Third officer is responsible for all life saving appliances on board ship. He is designated to look after the life boat life raft life buoy. All fire line shall be taken care by a third mate. After completion of pre sea training and 12 month mandatory sea job as trainee cadet one will be eligible for class 3 exam. Salary of a third officer ranges from 1500$-2000$.
