Severe unemployment problem for Bangladesh Marine Academy cadets and junior officers!

 Bangladesh has its long proud history in seafaring. Thousands of competent seafarers served over decades in both local and international shipping companies. Bangladesh has presently one government training  institute for officer and engineers and one for crew training.

Bangladesh Marine Academy formerly known as merchantile marine academy standing on the bank of karnafuli river was established at 1962. Then 20 cadets from then East pakistan and 20 cadets fron west Pakistan used to get training from this academy. After Bangladeshi liberation war and iindependence it was named as Marine Academy,Chittagong. This traditional academy has its proud history of producing really competent and talented marine officers and Engineers.

But last few years cadets of this academy is really struggling to find their onboard training placement for their mandatory 12 month training. Reliable sources assured that though cadets of 51 batch has passed out since 10 month a good number of cadets from 49 & 50 th batch are still unemployed. Taking into account present disastrous situation of cadet flooding Marine academy has decreased their cadets number to 50 cadets. Within the year 2012 about 18 private marine academy was permitted to admit cadets which caused a this disastrous situation. A reliable source from shipping department Bangladesh informed that over thousands cadets are still unemployed and are waiting for placement. As marine academy authority is not taking any responsibility of their cadets job so cadets have suffer boundless for managing ship placement. Many manning agency taking chance and compelling cadets to pay huge amount of bribe.Its very urgent for shipping authority and marine academy authority to decease and even stop cadet intake untill this situation improves. Marine Academy shall open their own manning wing to provide job to their cadets. They shall contact with various shipping company to make them convince to take their cadets. They shall regularly arrange various seminar to attract job provider.
